Common Problems We Fix
Dryer won’t start
Often a blown thermal fuse, bad door switch, failed start switch, or dead control board. Check power at the outlet first, then test the fuse and switches for continuity.
Dryer is not spinning
A broken drive belt, seized drum rollers, worn idler pulley, or a failed motor can stop rotation. Inspect belt tension and roller/motor free-spin; replace worn parts.
Dryer takes too long to dry
90% of the time it’s restricted airflow: clogged lint filter, blocked vent, or crushed duct. Clean the entire vent run and check the blower wheel and cycling thermostat.
Clothes come out covered in lint
Lint screen damage, overloaded loads, or poor airflow lifts excess fibers onto garments. Replace the screen if torn and clear the venting; advise proper load size.
Dryer gets excessively hot during operation
Failed cycling thermostat, stuck relay, or blocked vent can cause overheating. Verify exhaust temperature, clear the vent, and test thermostats/hi-limit devices.
Dryer stops running before the cycle completes
Overheating trips a safety, or a failing motor/door switch interrupts power. Check for vent restriction, test thermal cut-off, and confirm stable motor amperage.
Unusual gas smell coming from gas dryer
Possible loose gas connection, faulty gas valve coil, or delayed ignition. Shut off gas, soap-test fittings, inspect burner assembly, and verify proper combustion.
Dryer has completely stopped working
Could be no power, tripped breaker, blown thermal fuse, or failed main board. Confirm supply voltage, then isolate with continuity tests on fuse and controls.
Dryer is not heating up during cycles
Electric: open heating element, blown hi-limit, or bad thermostat/relay. Gas: bad igniter, flame sensor, or valve coils. Test components and verify airflow.
Loud squeaking or screeching noise while running
Worn drum glides, rollers, or idler pulley bearings are typical. Inspect for flat-spotted rollers and glazed belts; replace as a set for quiet operation.
Dryer trips the circuit breaker
Shorted heating element, pinched wiring, or motor drawing high amps can trip it. Megger/ohm test the element and harness, check motor windings, and verify circuit size.
Burning smell coming from the dryer
Lint contacting the heater or a slipping belt/idler overheating. Unplug, open the cabinet, vacuum lint from heater housing, and replace any heat-damaged parts.
